7 MONTHS!!!

The boy is now 7 months old and that is extremely hard to believe. I look at our little guy and wonder where my little baby went because he definitely is not a little baby anymore. After perusing the "What To Expect: The First Year" book, we can successfully check many milestones off of the list. Since I didn't do a 5 or 6 month post, I'll just combine everything into this one.

At 5- 6- 7 months your baby should be able to/or will probably be able to...

hold head steady. check.

raise chest, supported by arms. check. he has been doing this since about 2 months

pay attention to small objects. check

squeal in delight. check. Jed has nicknamed him the Hawk.

reach for an object. check.

smile spontaneously. check. our smiley baby has been doing this for quite a while.

grasp a rattle. check. he holds his own bottle.

keep heal level with body when pulled to sitting. check.

roll over. check.

bear weight on legs. check. boy loves to stand and will not bend to sit.

razz. check.

sit with support. check. he's now sitting without support...just within the last two weeks.

stand or hold onto something or someone. check.

get into sitting position from stomach. check.

feed self a cracker. he's almost there. we give him little snacks that he's able to pick up and sometimes get into his mouth.

object if you take a toy away. check. maybe we can also say object if you offer something like a bottle and he does to want it.

look for dropped object. check.

work to get a toy that's out of reach. check. now that he's got the crawling thing down, he's pretty good at getting to what he wants.

pass a cube or object from one hand to another. check.

pull to a standing position from sitting. check.
Needless to say, the boy is progressing very well and is a movin' and a shakin' rapidly. We have to keep a close eye on this boy. From exploring the stairs to trying to open anything with a handle on it, he is keeping us on our toes. Baden continues to be very happy and active and content and sometimes VERY stubborn. We couldn't ask for a better baby.

One of his newest shenanigans is that he wakes up and has started to go up on his knees and hold on to the sides of the crib and scream until we get him. I'm sure it won't be long until he is standing up in there, as he has already mastered pulling himself up to a standing position at the couch.

He loves to eat "big people" food. Whenever he sees one of us eat he gives us the stare down and looks like he is wondering where his is. It is sometimes a challenge to get him to eat his food because he wants what we have. We have been feeding him solids for about two months now. His favorite is yellow squash. We have been making our own food by buying the raw veggies and steaming them. After they go through the food processor, we put them in ice cube trays to create individual portions. Super easy and has to be less expensive in the long run. When we have tried to give him store bought baby food, he hasn't been much of a fan.

At his 6 month check up he weighed in at 17lb. 11oz. and was 27 inches long. He is right at the top of the growth charts and Dr. Curtis is very pleased with that. After changing his medication to a little stronger form of antibiotic, he has not had another uti. Which is good, because if he gets another one, the Dr. from Primary Children's wants him to come in again and they will probably opt for surgery instead of waiting until he is older to see if his body repairs itself.
