Dinner with Grandma Dorothy
I have to say that I have a great husband. He has been so caring and loving to my Gandma Dorothy! Grandma is getting quite old...90 now or is it 91? Anyway she is really showing her age. I always used to think Grandma Dorothy was invinceable. She has always been so active, working in her garden, going out with friends. So it has been a little starteling to see her decline in health so rapidly. Due to macular degeneration, a bad heart, bad back and bad feet, she rarely goes out anymore. She gets most of her meals from the "meals on wheels" people and my Aunt helps with the rest. Jed suggested a few months ago that we make an effort to visit grandma more often, which we have tried to do. Last Saturday we decided to go up to Heber and take grandma out to dinner. Jed knew of a little place in Wanship called "The Spring Chicken Inn." We put grandma in the car, cranked up the radio and rocked out to Glen Miller on the iPod on the way there and then we switched over to all 40's music on XM radio on the way home. We had a great time. The food was good, the ride not too long and grandma especially seemed to enjoy the music. She said it was a treat to hear that kind of music again...it's hard to find on the radio anymore. I am so glad that my husband has such a good heart and reminds me to take the time to make memories like this with grandma Dorothy.

Isn't it crazy when your vibrant, energetic grandparent suddenly ages? That happened to me last summer, with my dad's parents. It's a little scary to realize how mortal we all are.
