I've been looking for ideas for a fun Halloween themed dinner for the boys next weekend. I love the idea of having them decorate their own scary cupcakes for dessert. Here are some great ideas for that.

Smokin' Good Food

mmm, beef brisket

double mmmm. peach glazed ribs

AND beer can chicken.

These are just a few of the delicious foods we partook of a few weeks ago when we had the Huntsman's, Crookston's, and Vigue's over for dinner. They all provided the yummy side dishes. It was a feast. It was so great to see good friends and enjoy their company. Too bad I didn't think to take any other pictures of the shin-dig. I'm good that way...get the food, but not the people. I should not be in charge of the camera!

Mardi Gras Food

According to Wikipedia, Mardi Gras(literally means "FAT TUESDAY" in French) is a celebration of events that end on the day before Ash Wednesday. For a lot of people it just means a BIG OL' PARTY! For us it just means an excuse to make some food we don't usually have in honor of Mardi Gras.
On Sunday I made King Cake. It was so-so. I had a better version on Monday at work.

On Tuesday, Jed made Jambalaya with the left over homemade sausage we smoked on Sunday. It was super yummy! I don't know what Jambalaya is supposed to taste like, but I think we hit the nail on the head with this one!

Doesn't this look yummy? Well it was.

AND we had lots of it. Jed made it when I was sick a couple of weeks ago.
I bet it would have tasted pretty good after shoveling all of this snow. Too bad we didn't have any homemade soup on this day. Don't worry, I think Jed warmed the boys up with a nice cup o' cocoa. That made them warm and happy.
You know what else was tasty? This prime rib dinner we had on Christmas day. It was cooked on the smoker. Yes, it was very tasty indeed.
