Baby Gear

I was reading through one of the blogs I check out the other day and saw they were giving details on a great deal for "udder covers". Yep, love the name! It is a nursing cover that I was planning on making, but with their deal you only have to pay shipping, which was around $8.00. I couldn't have even bought the supplies for that cheap, so I was super excited to get this.
AND....when you ordered the nursing cover, you got re-directed to their sister site with a special promotion code for a baby sling for the price of shipping only as well. The shipping was a little higher at about $11.00, but still well worth it. Again the cost of materials to make this myself would have been much more. So, I'm watching my mailbox for these fun little baby gear gadgets to arrive. I can't wait!

Ultrasound Stats-32 Weeks

So I went in for the ultrasound today to check weights and measurements to make sure all is well. And it appears it is. I'm just a crazy mama who can't gain weight(when I should be) I guess.

heart rate: 138 BPM
amniotic fluid: 17 (normal range is 7-20)
cervix is closed and should stay that way for another month
baby's body is measuring at about 33 wks and 5 days
baby's head is measuring at about 34 wks and a few days. Nothing to worry about there. They say it is probably just genetics...dad does have a big noggin.
approximate weight: a little over 4 lbs., give or take a couple of pounds as ultrasounds are not really accurate at measuring weight.
baby is positioned comfortably(for him, not mom) with his head at the top of my abdomen and legs right at the cervix.

The US tech said all looks good and will give the results to my Dr. to review. In the meantime I have been trying to make sure I am staying well hydrated. I guess that helps braxton hicks to occur less often. I'm also trying to keep the body fueled with some good proteins. My latest snack addiction is cottage cheese mixed with a little mild salsa and eaten with tortilla chips.

27 1/2 weeks

I had an ultrasound yesterday at my appointment so they could have another look at the heart since they couldn't get a good view last time. There was a new tech in the room for training and as the US tech put it, it was a perfect looking heart for the tech to learn on.

Baby appears to have very chubby cheeks already. He was sucking on the umbilical cord or had his foot in his mouth most of the time. It was so much fun to see him so much more developed now. (click on the photos to see larger image)

The last two shots are 4D shots which I guess are pretty hard to get without looking like an alien baby. So, I'm pretty happy they were able to capture these. His little face is pressed right up against the placenta and he was straight up breech when they were doing the US, which might explain why I hadn't been feeling a lot of kicking the last day or so. I think he has changed position again, as I am feeling tons of kicking and bumping around at the top of my belly again.

The US still shows I'm about a week ahead of schedule. My new "due date" is December 27th. I sure hope we don't have a Christmas baby!

26 Weeks

The babybuldge has finally started to show through the extra weight I have on my tummy. The last week or so, it has just "popped" out. Now I'm feeling more pregnant than just fat.

23 weeks-plus!

Baby is actually measuring a week ahead at 24 weeks and heart rate was 162. Right where it should be. I have to take the Glucose Tolerance Test next week. Lots of fun...I can't have sugar for at least 12 hours before hand. YIKES! Ultrasound of the heart will have to wait until next appointment since they were too backed up to fit me in today.

To sling or not to sling

Jed is at scouts and I'm bored. So here is another random post. Anyone who has used the sling in the top two pictures...what do you think? Is it worth it? I'm liking the idea of having a way to tote the little tike around and still have my hands free.

Baby Sleep Safe????

So I saw this on the Internet today. It is called the Baby Sleeps Safe. The product description says "created by moms, developed by experts in the field of childcare. Unlike other sleep pouches, this sleep system allows the infant to have side to side movement to help in development and motor skill functions..." Now I know it is a concern to have your baby roll over onto their stomach in the middle of the night, but is it really necessary to strap them down to the bed?!

What's in a name?

We've had a lot of questions about what we will name the babe, now that we know it is a boy. Naming a child, a human being that is, is a pretty huge task. Making sure it is a name that will fit the kid, a name that will not induce name calling and teasing...boy oh boy, this is a BIG responsibility! Here are a few that have made the short list.

Cravings

Fresh Peaches....maybe that's just because they are ripe for the pickin' in Utah and taste oh so sweet! One of my favorite things anyway.

Seriously, this is my new favorite cereal. And I don't really eat a lot of cereal. This tastes almost like cocoa puffs, but I'm sure it's a little more healthy.

What's up with the chocolate milk?! I have been avoiding milk of any kind for the last several years as I have noticed it really gunks up my sinuses. BUT, I have serious cravings for this stuff!

Sluggish

I have felt pretty sluggish the last couple weeks. I don't know...maybe I'm getting too comfortable with my "pregnancy" related excuses and have let the laziness take over too much. But now that we are 4 months away from the big arrival, I'm feeling the time crunch. BIG TIME. I want to make sure we have everything ready in plenty of time before I get so big I can't do anything. If that time ever comes...I still haven't gained any weight and although I'm feeling more pregnant, I still don't really look much different. Luckily the baby seems to be very healthy and my Dr. is not at all concerned about my lack of weight gain. I will go in this week for a check-up and that ultrasound to get a look at the heart that we couldn't see last time. I'm feeling more kicking...feels kind of like little gas bubbles popping to me. Sometimes it's pretty persistent and I poke back to put him in his place. Ha, Ha. So with the time crunch here are the projects I will be working on in the next few weeks...
1. Get crib from Aunt Chris. Clean it up and make sure bedding fits. We got the bedding. It's not any of the choices I pictured on here before. I found a cute little jungle theme that has a lot of bright colors. Blues, greens, yellow, red, orange. I love it because it will be pretty easy to decorate with.
2. Get Rocker Glider ready to rock and roll. We found a great little rocker on KSL.com for $15. It's not real fancy or high end, but will work great for rocking the babe to sleep. I'm going to clean it up and give it a quick sand down and then put a new coat of stain on it. I've also got some fabric to re-cover the seat cushions.
3. Get Will's desk painted and set up. William wanted a desk in his room and we happened to have a little vanity type table that I am no longer using. So, I will be painting this and then doing a map theme on top with old maps from a book I found at Deseret Industries and modge podge. Yep, I'm SUPER CRAFTY!
4. There is also a little side table in Will's room that needs to be sanded down and stained. This has been on the list for a while, so since I am doing the other things, I'll get this done too.
5. I have a couple of other little craft projects in the works that include modge podge, craft paper that matches the color scheme of the baby bedding.

I'll take some before and after photos and post them when I'm done. This should keep me busy for a couple of weeks. I'm sure it will feel good to get something done and feel like we actually have a place to keep this kid when he finally comes.

Decisions, decisions...

Now that we know what to plan for, I can finally start decorating a nursery. I have been doing some searching around the Internet and found some really great prices for crib bedding on Amazon.com. I've narrowed it down to the three choices below. Anyone have a favorite?

It's a BOY!

Baby boy on the way...now we get to start making some plans. Names, nursery bedding and more. We've got a lot to do! If it was a girl, we were already pretty sure on a name, but we don't really have any boy names we are really keen on yet. UGH!

The ultrasound showed a very healthy baby. We almost didn't get a confirmation on the sex though. The cord was right between the legs the whole time! We finally got a shot that showed "boy parts" as the tech kept saying. So, we sure hope she is right. We also couldn't get a good look at the heart as there was an arm in the way that wouldn't move. His heart rate is good though, so that is reassuring. (We couldn't possibly have a stubborn baby on our hands, could we!?!?) Because they couldn't get a good look at the heart, I'll have another ultrasound at my next appointment. I'm also measuring about a week ahead of my due date. Since we are 100% sure of the due date(conception date), I'm guessing we're going to be having a big baby!
